Throughout my life, starting as early as elementary school, I had constantly struggled with schooling and traditional means of communal learning, which led me to self-taught learning. After two years of trying and struggling with college, I dropped out and began working in entry-level jobs while continuing to teach myself about writing, photography, and filmmaking in my spare time.
My work is meant to be both a reflection of my personal life and a coping mechanism for it. Unsure of my future both as an artist and as a person, I seek to find answers in the uncertainty of my life, and to showcase that uncertainty in a way that is often too difficult to portray with just words. Common themes in my work include things I struggle with in everyday life, such as existentialism, alienation, and societal pressure.
I find myself to be a chronic experimentalist and, as corny as it sounds, a rule breaker. I’ve always been averse to any confines; I like making what I want regardless of genre, category, or medium. The only thing I consider a constant is making it meaningful enough to me that it doesn’t feel like content cannon fodder – there’s enough “art” out there these days that feels devoid of any real personality, just copies of trends and styles. I hope to avoid that pitfall at all costs, truly.
